Holiday Open House

Home Again would like to invite each and everyone to our open house, Thursday December 9, from 3 til 8. Also Luzerne will be having the Christmas on Main event from 5 til 8. I hope the weather will be good. A few snowflakes won't be bad. Just a few.

A Holiday Star

We have chosen this wonderful bed ensemble by The Victorian Heart Company to greet the holiday season and to showcase this at our open house. It's called Tea Star and has been featured in Country Sampler Magazine many times. Get cozy under this oversized 100% cotton quilt, grab the hot chocolate and popcorn, and watch the classic Holiday Inn!

Welcome

The number one holiday decor item is the wreath. And nobody says it like Flossie's Basket. Flo is a Christmas staple at Home Again since we started. Her wreath making at holiday time is a given.
Our customers know that they must put all Christmas orders in around September if they are going to adorn their homes for the holidays. If it is a Fall wreath you are after, start in July! There is not much left at the shoppe. Sorry folks.

This is where the magic begins.

When Flo needs a well deserved break, she will gaze out one of her windows and watch "her birds".
She is a wild bird fancier and draws many species. It is amazing to watch these colorful creatures.

Inside Flo's studio is this comfy cozy wood burning stove. The entire studio is window walls. When the fire is lit and the snow is falling you don't want to leave.

I just love this creation!

Flo is showing that a wreath for the holiday does not always have to be twiggy, berries, green and red. This is for our customers that prefer a more elegant chic style. I detect some retro colors!

This festive wreath was commissioned for my home. Flo and I love cardinals. That to me is Christmas. I knew I was going to hang this on a mirror along with my vintage figurines from the 1950's. When you walk into my home that is the first thing you see.

Great Gifts

A few days ago our good friend and artisan Liz Revit graced the store with her talents. When Liz arrives there is always excitement in the air! She is always so kind as to take pictures of our decorating. You must go to Liz Revit Art Blog. I am a faithful follower. She placed in the store the hottest trend to come down the pike! RECYCLED JEWELRY! This is so funky and trendy. And she is helping mother earth as we do here. What a cool gift. The paper mache and paper clip style I adore! The craft magazines were also impressed. Liz is featured. What more can I say!

Liz's prim snowmen "smalls" are the most requested art of hers at Home Again. These guys are so adorable. Our customers decorate with them all year round. I love seeing them in a grouping on a wall.

These little prim guys are a favorite of mine. Last year they completely sold out. One of our customers bought 15 and hung them on lighted twig branches! I wish we had a picture. These are in December 2010 issue of Create and Decorate Magazine which Liz is no stranger to that and many other craft magazines.

A Very Happy Thanksgiving

Today's weather made it feel very much like the good old Thanksgiving of childhood. Lots of friends and relatives gracing our table and watching the snow fall. My brother and his friends home from college and playing football on the lawn covered in snow. Then putting up the Christmas decorations the next day. Forget that! Sharpen up those running shoes! It's Black Friday tomorrow!

Colonial Simplicity

This darling oak bench came to us today. Just loving the graceful curves. I would put this anywhere! Especially at a dining table for added seating. Drape a cozy Christmas throw over it or hang a garland across the back. Don't forget the pillows!

Warm Hospitality

We finally got our stunning bedding ensemble together. Victorian Heart's Albemarle Wholecloth is just gorgeous.! Just one of the patterns we chose for the holidays and year round. What an impact! My sister-in-law just purchased this for her bedroom. I think she will be pleased. It is also featured in the November issue of Country Sampler Magazine. Oh by the way our pricing is better!

She's Back!

Miss Lily Bamber. The queen of shabby chic! The House of Cottage Chic. We love this little church bench of hers in front of the pencil post bed. Creamy white and chippy. A pantry door turned into a blackboard! How clever. More of her creations to come so stay tuned!

Hot Picks For the Holidays

Home Again has chosen these two bedding ensembles for the Christmas holiday. Tea Star will be featured for our Country Christmas. The black pencil post bed will be decked out in this winner. Not your style? We chose the red and creamy white Albemarle for added sophistication. These come from the Victorian Heart Company as always. So cozy for you or the guests!

Good Bye To Fall Fest 2010.

The Luzerne Fall festival was a huge success. It was a wonderful two day event. The weather was simply perfect. Home Again was busy making new customers and greeting our old friends. We did not want to see it end. Now the Christmas season is on our minds. So thanks to all of our customers and friends in making this a great weekend.!

Harvest Festival 2010

Don't forget the Luzerne Fall festival this Saturday and Sunday, the 18th and 19th from 12 P.M. to 6 P.M. Lots of food, fun and music. My favorite the horse and wagon rides. Be there or be square!

What's Your Attitude?

Looking at the two club chairs, I would say cheerful. They were custom made from the Century Furniture Co. Hickory, N.C. The fabric is from the Bermuda Collection exclusively by Waverly. The small end table was made by the Superior Furniture Co. Lowell MI. Gracing the top is the Baldwin Brass light fixture made in the USA. We have two end tables and two lamps. With a pattern this bold there is no mixing or matching. Using a single strong pattern usually requires an equally strong background color. So paint the walls in a dominant or secondary hue picked from the fabric's palette.

B&B Style

Memories of his or her mother's garden must have inspired this interior designer to bring the outdoors into the bedroom. The small loveseat has a poofy down filled cushion and two matching custom made twin size bedspreads . This will help your overnight guests to escape the winter months ahead.

Small Yet Gracious

Today we received six of these beautiful parson style dining chairs. Custom made from Ethan Allen and just a lovely soothing color. Formal doens't mean fussy. We teamed them up to a wonderful 1970's walnut bridge table. Pull this baby out and it will seat six! I feel it can go traditional or contemporary.

Fall Brunch

Take an antique piano scarf in this beautiful flaming orange, throw it over a vintage garden table and start inviting the girls. Use Christine Altmann's Halloween note cards for seating and a cocktail shaker for those pretty mums. Lots of oooooo's and ahhhhh's.

From the Backyard

Today my good friend Flo asked me to come over to the home of Bill and Linda, her son and his wife. She wanted me to take pictures of this amazing backyard transformation. I recall lots of grass and bye-bye! No more grass to cut. All beautiful pavers and landscaping. Bill is a landscaper. Do ya think? They would like to enter his works in Birds and Blooms magazine. Beauty in your own backyard. This is just a sneak peak of just some pics that I like. Good luck guys.

New Arrival

This very funky cafe table and chairs just screams modern. It is actually a prototype that Ethan Allen came up with. This ain't your grandma's breakfast table.! Very "avant garde".

Foo Foo Feline

What woman could resist a pearl necklace.

New Arrival

There is nothing like a piece of Hitchcock furniture. Just talk to the people that collect it. It is unmistakable. The color of this dry sink and matching chair is perfect for Fall decorating. Use plenty of natural textures. Seasonal fruits and gourds. Display your collections . Set a historical tone. Give a Colonial space a little dash with a decoy resting in a bed of greens. A sure conversation piece.

Forget The Jewels

Can you say F A B U L O U S ? This woven coverlet came to us today. So appropriate for the pencil post bed. It was born in the 1800's! What a masterful pattern and glorious colors. For all the collectors this is a winner.

Walking

Doing my walk through the neighborhood, these are the things I found interesting. Go figure!
